CONFLICT

CONFLICT

Conflicts have ridden in earth since the beginning of life. Conflicts have decided who the more superior beings are. Conflicts between animals have always been about two things- its constant drive for power and survival. Conflict in the human life is different. Another variable has been brought into the equation of conflict. In some cases even rules are have been framed and used for a conflict. And what’s most absurd is to win a conflict it would be smart to violate these rules and since it is a conflict do rules make a conflict more humane with these rules. It’s actually unthinkable.

But people claiming that conflicts in the name of ideologies are actually a facade. Any one claiming that the conflict for the people is actually a façade. The reason there are conflicts are for power or survival and we have seen this happen time and again. Tribes defeating each other were for power and to survive. The Wars in the medieval age was all about getting power. The so called Crusades occurred because the greedy Pope finally decided that he wanted to spread his power across to sea and he tempted and convinced the Kings to support him. It was not about Jerusalem.

When World War I & II happened the allies said that it was for freedom. What happened after the war got over, the allies distributed war loot. The defeated countries were humiliated. It’s all about power, the whole thing. Both the allies and axis forces tried to do it and the allies succeed in. After World War II the country that acquired most power was the Americans. Occupation of West Germany and Japan.

Off course Russian was no less. At the end of the war partisan forces took over the capital of Poland (taking over the capital of any country is as almost as good as taking over the country). However the Partisans forces could not hold it for more than a few days. They cried to the Allies for help. Russian who was actually at the doorstep of Poland made an excuse of being busy somewhere else. With any internal resistance dead, Soviet Union had an easy takeover of Poland.

When conflicts occur it goes beyond right or wrong. Even when there is a clear line between right and wrong (this is rare). Conflicts are so distorted with propaganda that eventually both are as bad as each other.

The only people innocent are the bystanders who are the civilians. However they are not really bystander’s whether they like it or not. They are dragged in. Their name is used “For the people”, but they know better. They become collateral damage, and acceptable collateral damage. This was seen in the conflict in Sri Lanka.

Power, it’s all about power. In the end we are no better than animal, we could even be worse. Sure there are people who are there to help and give hope both in these conflicts they are just like civilians. In 2008 Israel launched an offense against Palestine. During this conflict, Israel bombed a UN HQ. There was a hue and outcry. Nothing happened. The conflict went on, UN official the peace keepers could not do anything.

So in the end there will be no end to conflicts in the world. They will always be there. People will continue to die, globally the world has become numb to it and maybe they have every right to. The world has been through a lot and seen a lot of conflicts.

Even has bad as conflicts are there continue to go on. Some time they take a pause for some time before starting again (Afghanistan). So the question is there any chance of eradicating conflicts from the world. No chance. Men are violent and according to them the best way to resolve an issue is show of power. So if anyone is hoping for the world to be eradicated from this world, that’s not going to happen. That’s life that’s the way thing are engraved in human beings.

DISINVESTMENT

DISIVESTMENT! WHAT?

Is disinvestment the best option? The Government is slowly disinvesting its shares in public sector companies and making them private. But is this a good option? India managed to have a keep the global recession at a minimum because much of the economy was still in the public sector. From 1991 it has been on a continued effort to disinvest, but this must stop. Enough of disinvestment has occurred for private and public companies to be on an equal footing. If the governments are unable to take care of and brings these industries back to profit making then the government is incompetent. Or is the government incompetent, or is it something else. Deals of disinvestment include a lot of money and with corruption high one can only guess what happens. These public sick units were once a point a time a high class top grade units, but by the 1980s this all changed poor leadership and support by the government.
